Successful people are the ones who think up things for the rest of the world to keep busy at.

When a baby giraffe is born, it falls 10 feet from its mother's womb, usually landing on its back. The baby quickly rolls over, tucking its legs under its body. When the last bits of birthing fluid have dropped from its eyes and skin, the mother giraffe swings one leg and kicks the newborn animal, sending it tumbling head over heels. The mother continues to kick the baby giraffe until it begins the struggle to stand for the first time on its wobbly legs.
Once the baby has found its footing, the mother giraffe does something surprising: She kicks the baby off its feet--as if she wants her baby to remember how to stand up. Since baby giraffes need to be able to get up quickly if they're going to keep up with the herd, they need all the practice they can get.
The same principle applies to successful people throughout history. someone once asked biographer Irving Stone, who wrote the stories of such men as Michelangelo, Charles Darwin, and Vincent van Gogh, what common denominator ran through the lives of his subjects. Stone replied: "I write about people who sometime in their life have a vision or dream of something that should be accomplished and they go to work. They are beaten over the head, knocked down, vilified, and for years they get nowhere. But every time they're knocked down they stand up. You cannot destroy these people. And at the end of their lives they've accomplished some modest part of what they set out to do." --Adapted from "Illustrations for Preaching and Teaching", by Craig B. Larson (Baker Books)
